Dawn's First Light in Asheville's Woodlands

Morning's hush prevails
Frosted leaves beneath my feet
Sunlight warms the path

At 5:48 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, I find myself moving slowly at 1 mph through the tranquil woodlands near Asheville, North Carolina. The air is crisp at 36°F (2°C), and the sky is clear, allowing the first hints of dawn to filter through the trees. The ground beneath me is lightly frosted, crunching softly underfoot as I proceed. The surrounding forest is still, with only the occasional rustle of leaves as nocturnal creatures settle in for the day. As the sun rises, the promise of a breezy day with plenty of sunshine and a high of 65°F (18°C) awaits. However, a Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM due to expected strong winds and low humidity, advising caution with any outdoor fires. For now, I continue to enjoy the peaceful solitude of the early morning woods.
